Grasses

Orchardgrass

Crown Royale Orchardgrass

CROWN ROYALE was selected for its increased forage yields, tillering, and improved resistance to foliar diseases. It has topped the yield trials throughout most of the U S producing up to 35% more forage than other grasses tested. Late Maturity

Tekapo Orchardgrass

Tekapo is the only true grazing orchardgrass on the market today! Tekapo has a low set crown with multiple tillers. Tekapo provides improved drought tolerance and disease resistance. Its long soft leaves also make it highly palatable and acceptable to livestock. Medium - late maturity.

Quick Draw Orchardgrass

QUICK DRAW was selected for its superior yields, disease resistance to leaf and stem rust and palatability. Quick Draw has excellent recovery after cutting, with excellent drought stress. Its late maturity provides excellent early spring forage for grazing, silage or hay. Quick Draw has very good winter survival.

Sundown Orchardgrass

Sundown orchardgrass was bred not only for improved forage quality, but also for improved resistance to foliar diseases (such as leaf rust and leaf spot) that can also have and adverse effect on forage quality. Maturity is similar to that of Pennlate. Sundown is highly compatible in mixes with alfalfa, timothy and clovers. Late maturity, suitable for grazing or haying. Features aggressive tillering and fast re-growth.

Ryegrass

Albion Tetraploid Perennial Ryegrass

ALBION offers excellent performance in areas that experience drought and high humidity. While Ryegrasses are not typically known for handling drought, ALBION has shown excellent performance. ALBION produces plentiful, high-quality forage long after other grasses have wilted and gone dormant.

TetraMag Perennial Ryegrass

Tetramag is an excellent hybrid ryegrass with excellent yield potential and a stand-life expectancy of 3-5 years. The yield potential is due to TetraMag's unparalleled seedling vigor. Once planted, TetraMag paws at the ground to emerge and continues to produce all season long. In addition TetraMag has improved forage quality.

Enhancer Italian Ryegrass

Enhancer was developed under hot, arid conditions and offers improved performance through drought and high temperatures. It also has lower moisture levels and increased water soluble carbohydrates (sugars), so livestock are able to ingest greater amounts of plant material. This translates to higher daily weight gains in beef cattle and increased milk production in dairy cows. It has explosive establishment and is well-suited for grazing year round.

Spring Green Festulolium

Spring Green has been selectively bred for cold tolerance. The relative feed value compares favorably with tetraploid ryegrass and is superior to many other grass species. In comparison to ryegrass, it produces longer under high summer temperatures. Spring Green mixes well with other grasses and legumes in a pasture mix. It is important to mow or graze Spring Green in a leafy and vegetative stage.

Sudan Grasses

HayKing Hybrid Sudangrass

With Hi-Gest Technology

* Dairy: A replicated milk output study documented a 5% increase in feed intake per day and a 12% increase in milk production per day when 18% of the TMR ration was HayKing versus Piper Sudangrass.
* A fast-growing hybrid with very fine stems, aggressive tillering and a mass of leaves at harvest maturity.
* Medium, dark green leaves with a characteristic brown midrib. The brown coloring may also express at the stems.
* Adapted to all areas of the US where hybrid sudangrass or hybrid sorghum/sudan grass are normally grown.
* For direct pasture, dried hay, green chop or silage. HayKing’s fine stems may help field drydown in humid production areas.

Sweet Six BMR Dry Stalk Sorghum Sudangrass

This hybrid produces a high tillering, high quality forage that has excellent early vigor. The high leaf to stem ration means that you can count on high protein. The digestibility of this hybrid has been increased by twenty percent due to the BMR trait. With the dry stalk gene, harvest delays related to drying can be avoided. Typically this hybrid is used in a rotational grazing or 1-3 cutting system allowing you to produce the maximum amount of forage. This hybrid is more economical to plant, and produces more tonnage.
*Anthracnose resistant
*Downy mildew resistant
*Water requirement - very low
*Excellent recovery after cutting
*First cutting in approximately 50-55 days
*Harvest at 45-55 inches or when crop is at 50% boot stage

Timothy

Presto Timothy

Presto, a medium-late maturing timothy. Responds extremely well to moisture and does well in cool areas with good drainage. It has great winter hardiness and is easily established. Presto makes excellent hay for livestock and silage for dairy. It was bred to co-exist with other grasses and legumes and therefore is extremely persistent and reliable in all grass-legume mixtures. Presto also has proven itself to be consistent in producing high yields.
•Excellent Winter Hardiness
•Tolerant to fall seeding
•Leafy regrowth
•Excellent tolerance of ice encasement

Titan Timothy

TITAN timothy is a late maturity timothy that responds extremely well to moisture & does well in cool areas with good drainage. TITAN makes excellent hay for livestock and silage for dairy. It is tolerant of fall seeding and has excellent winter hardiness. Mixes well with legumes and has leafy regrowth. Very fast recovery after cutting.

Climax Timothy

Climax is a leafy, fine stemmed, tall perennial bunch grass that has been used widely in both Canada and the U.S. since 1947. It performs best in cool, moist conditions. It matches well with clovers or birdsfoot trefoil due to its med-late maturity. Climax is tall, fine stemmed and has good leaf production. High quality, highly palatable.

Tuukka Timothy

Tuukka is an earlier maturing Timothy and recommended for hay, grazing, silage or green chop. It provides a long lasting companion that will enhance other forages. Tuukka offers a high leaf-to-stem ratio and shows excellent regrowth, after cutting or grazing, even after 2nd and 3rd cutting.
